Leigh Greenwood
Master of The Western Romance!

Other than my husband of 32 years, Leigh Greenwood is one of the most interesting men I know of because of his line of work. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Greenwood personally, although we have much in common as I am a retired nurse (as his wife), have grown children and a cat that runs the house, love gardening and most of all, other than my husband being my first and special love: romance reading is one of my favorites. After being a busy oncology nurse on a transplant unit ten years ago, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and that is when I discovered historical romance and Leigh Greenwood’s western romances, as reading helped me considerably during the long waits in doctor’s offices and in the treatment rooms. Nursing, medical research and history was all I read up until I became ill and soon I was hooked reading regency and other historical romances when I discovered western romances.
I immediately fell in love with Wyoming Wildfire, Leigh’s first book. What a shock when I went to the back of the book to look at the bio and saw it was a man! But then I sat back and realized that I really shouldn’t be so shocked, as having a husband and son who love John Wayne and other western movies, I realized that Mr. Greenwood was the perfect individual to write an excellent western romance. Sorry to sound sexist here, but if women sit down and watch the entire library of John Wayne movies or Silverado and many other westerns, the storylines are extremely similar to western romances. And if an alpha male that makes fun of the romance covers and books; a man who always brings up Fabio with a chuckle, will sit and watch a western movie not realizing how similar a western movie is to the western romance book their wife may be reading at the time. But it is Leigh Greenwood who brings something special to the western romance simply because he is a man. But he also wrote an excellent pirate romance, The Captain’s Caress, which is very well done and proves that he is capable of writing more than westerns, but it is his westerns fans love!
Don’t miss going to his website and read his bio because it is fun to read and the list of Awards and Recognitions are impressive since he started writing and has now written more than 35 books. Like I mentioned above, he has been married for 33 years to a now retired nurse and they have three grown children. He has a BA in Voice and MA in Musicology from the University of North Carolina. He also has a minor in History. He taught music in schools before his writing career and when not writing loves to garden and be slave to the family cat. Many of his favorite romance authors are the same as many other romance fans, Georgette Heyer, Rosemary Rogers, Jennifer Blake, Bertrice Small, and Johanna Lindsey; and he is as addicted as any other romance fan!
His latest Maxwell Family novel Texas Loving is as good as all of his other books. Please take a moment to read the 5 Star Book Review I’ve written for Texas Loving in the Book Reviews Section of this website. If you haven’t had the opportunity to read one of Mr. Leigh Greenwood’s books, please take this opportunity. He is a talent not to be missed if you enjoy historical romance, especially westerns. Keep it up Mr. Greenwood, as your fans love your writing! ~ Beverly
